Regulatory Impact Analysis of the Equal Status (Amendment) Bill 2012

The purpose of the Equal Status (Amendment) Bill 2012 is to provide for the amendment of certain provisions of the Equal Status Act 2000 so as to provide in Irish law for the mandatory introduction within the European Union of unisex premiums and benefits in insurance as from 21 December 2012. This gives effect in national law to the decision of 1 March 2011 of the Court of Justice of the EU in case C-236/09 (the 'Test-Achats' case).
