319. Deputy Niall Collins asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the number of Garda Síochána assigned to each divisional drug unit for each of the years 2011 to date. [45744/15]

Answer

Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Frances Fitzgerald): The Garda Commissioner is responsible for the distribution of personnel, among the Garda Regions, Divisions, and Districts. Garda management keep this distribution under continuing review taking into account crime trends and policing priorities so as to ensure that the best possible use is made of these resources.
I have been informed by the Garda Commissioner that the number of Gardaí assigned to each Divisional Drug Unit on the 31 December 2011, 2012, 2013 2014 and on 31 October 2015, the latest date for which figures are readily available, was as set out in the following table.
