The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Michael McDowell, T.D., announced today that, following an open competition run by the Public Appointments Service, Mr. Thomas Lynch, a Principal Officer in the Department of Justice, Equality & Law Reform has been selected and appointed as Director designate of the new National Property Services Regulatory Authority.

Mr. Lynch, who will take up his appointment with immediate effect, will play a key role in the establishment of the Authority.  He will be working closely with the Implementation Group for the National Property Services Regulatory Authority, chaired by Mr. Tim Dalton, which has been charged with making the arrangements for the early establishment of the Authority and its structures, including the securing of new premises for the Authority, to be located in Navan, Co. Meath.

The Director designate and the Implementation Group will be working towards the formal establishment of the Authority once the necessary legislation has been enacted.  The Minister welcomed the appointment and said "Mr. Lynch will be responsible for the day to day operation of the Authority and will assist it in formulating and developing policy.  I am committed to the early establishment of the Authority which will fulfil a vital role in promoting high standards in this important sector and implementing a new regulatory framework for auctioneering, estate agency, property letting and property management services in Ireland."
