The Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr Michael McDowell T.D., today announced the allocation of 2 million Euro funding targeted at CLÁR areas under the Equality for Women Measure.
Announcing his decision, the Tánaiste said, "This development further builds on the success of the initial phases of the Equality for Women Measure. Under Phase II RAPID areas (the urban redevelopment areas) were targeted with 7 million Euro in funding for specific positive action measures to advance women's participation in the labour market.
Following on from the success of that targeted initiative, I have now decided to provide 2 million Euro for a similarly targeted approach of CLÁR areas, the areas of rural disadvantage.
This decision is further proof of this Government's commitment to equality and social inclusion for all areas, rural and urban, and I am confident that this new phase will attract many high quality projects."
Advertisements for the Scheme will run in national and regional newspapers from tomorrow, Friday, 15 September 2006.
