Reappointment of Judge Aindrias Ó Caoimh as a Judge of the European Court of Justice
The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D., has welcomed the reappointment of Judge Aindrias Ó Caoimh as a judge of the Court of Justice of the European Communities (ECJ) following his nomination by the Government on 2 December 2008.
Judge Ó Caoimh replaced Judge Fidelma Macken as Ireland’s representative on the ECJ in October 2004. His forthcoming term of office will run for a period of six years from October 2009.
The Minister said: "I congratulate Judge Ó Caoimh on this prestigious appointment. He has served on the Court of Justice with great distinction since 2004 and the Government was pleased to nominate him for reappointment for a further term."
