Reappointment of Judge Aindrias Caoimh as a Judge of the European Court of Justice

The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Mr. Dermot Ahern, T.D., has welcomed the reappointment of Judge Aindrias Caoimh as a judge of the Court of Justice of the European Communities (ECJ) following his nomination by the Government on 2 December 2008.

Judge Caoimh replaced Judge Fidelma Macken as Ireland’s representative on the ECJ in October 2004. His forthcoming term of office will run for a period of six years from October 2009.

The Minister said: "I congratulate Judge Caoimh on this prestigious appointment. He has served on the Court of Justice with great distinction since 2004 and the Government was pleased to nominate him for reappointment for a further term."
