Following the resignation by Alan Shatter T.D. as Minister for Justice, Equality and Defence on Wednesday 7th May, 2014, An Taoiseach Enda Kenny nominated Minister Frances Fitzgerald, T.D.  as Minister for Justice and Equality. Minister Frances Fitzgeraldformally received her seal of office from the Presidential Commission on May 8th.

Fireworks are not only dangerous, there are severe criminal penalties that apply. It is illegal to possess fireworks (other than small sparklers, party poppers etc) without a licence. Therefore fireworks such as bangers, rockets, roman candles, etc are illegal to import, sell to the public or use and are potentially very dangerous. The penalty for offences are very severe. Simply having illegal fireworks in your possession can result in a fine of up to €10,000 whereas one is liable to the same fine and/or five years' imprisonment for possession of illegal fireworks with intent to sell or supply. Igniting the fireworks or throwing an ignited firework at a person or property is also liable to the same severe penalties.
