Women in Sport conference
Ministers of State Aodhán Ó Ríordáin and Michael Ring hosted a conference entitled 'Women and Girls in Sport in Ireland - Let's Level the Playing Field', a joint initiative of the Department of Justice and Equality and the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport. The conference, which took place in Dublin Castle on Wednesday 28 October, looked at the overall approach to promoting women's sport including in the media and educational spheres. Read more.

Minister Fitzgerald confirms the setting up of a second Special Criminal Court
A second Special Criminal Court was established by Government Order on 14 December 2004 and it was brought into existence by the appointment by the Government on 28 October of seven serving judges to its bench, comprising 3 High Court, 2 Circuit Court and 2 District Court judges. Read more.
Irish Refugee Protection Programme Taskforce meeting
On 28 October, the second meeting of the Irish Refugee Protection Programme Taskforce took place at the Department's offices. The Taskforce reviewed preparations to receive the first persons under the EU relocation programme, which are now well advanced.

Marriage Bill signed into Law
The Presidential Commission signed the Marriage Bill into law on Thursday 29 October.
