Report of the Data Protection Review Group
The Data Protection Review Group was established by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D. to examine whether legislative changes were needed to address the issue of data breaches, with particular reference to mandatory notification of breaches to data subjects. The Group following an initial consideration, identified eight regulatory options. It published a consultation document in September 2009 looking for views on these options. Following the closure of the consultation period in October 2009 and further consideration the Group has reported it's recommendations.
