We are now in the process of drafting a Statement of Strategy for the Department of Justice and Equality to cover the period 2016 – 2019 and we would welcome your input.

In line with our Culture and Values Charter, developing the Strategy is being undertaken by a cross-grade working group. Our new Strategy will focus primarily on the relevant commitments in the new Programme for a Partnership Government and have regard to other Government Strategies.   However, the consideration of input, suggestions and views from stakeholders, interest groups and individuals is also a very valuable element of the process.

The Department works for “a safe and fair Ireland” and the core high level objectives in our current Strategy Statement (2015 – 2017) are set out below:

The core high level objectives in our current Strategy Statement 2015 – 2017: Leadership in and oversight of justice and equality policy and delivery; a safe, secure Ireland; access to justice for all; an equal and inclusive society; an efficient, responsive and fair immigration, asylum and citizenship system; and implement a programme of fundamental and sustained organisational change.

More detailed information on the Department’s business activities can be found on this website along with the current Statement of Strategy.

Submissions are invited from interested parties to assist the Department in defining its strategic vision for the next three years. Please note that submissions may be the subject of requests for information under the Freedom of Information Acts.

Written submissions, preferably in electronic format, should be sent by Wednesday, 14 September 2016 to our Reform and Development Unit by e-mail: strategy2016@justice.ie, or by post to:
