760. Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív asked the Minister for Justice when an application for citizenship was received by her Department from a person (details supplied) in County Galway; the reason for the delay in making a decision on this application; when a decision will be made in relation to this application; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [52813/21]

Minister of State at the Department of Justice (Deputy James Browne): An application for a certificate of naturalisation was received from the person referred to by the Deputy on 10 April 2019 and my Department issued the applicant with an approval letter on 12 October 2021. My Department has received all necessary documentation from the applicant and, provided all is in order, I expect that a certificate of naturalisation should issue in the coming weeks.
Queries in relation to the status of individual immigration cases may be made directly to my Department by e-mail using the Oireachtas Mail facility at:, which has been specifically established for this purpose. This service enables up to date information on such cases to be obtained without the need to seek information by way of the Parliamentary Question process. The Deputy may consider using the e-mail service except in the cases where the response is, in the Deputy's view, inadequate or too long awaited.
