Answer

Minister for Justice (Deputy Helen McEntee): As the Deputy will be aware, under the Garda Síochána Act 2005, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management of the Garda Estate, including the use of Garda Stations. Under the Act, the Commissioner is also responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána, as well as the distribution and stationing of the Garda Síochána throughout the State. As Minister, I have no direct role in these matters.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that the Garda barracks in Templederry, County Tipperary is considered an operational station and is not deemed surplus to requirements at present.
