Answer

Minister for Justice (Deputy Helen McEntee): The High Court has jurisdiction in wards of court matters and management of the courts is the responsibility of the Courts Service, which is independent in exercising its functions under the Courts Service Act 1998.
However, in order to be of assistance to the Deputy, I have had enquiries made to the Courts Service who have responded with the following:

  2020 2019 2018
Brain Injury 31 45 32
Dementia/Age Related 173 218 221
Psychiatric 24 48 21
Other 62 53 49
Minors 19 21 23
Total 309 385 346
