Question

294. Deputy Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire asked the Minister for Justice and Equality the status of the scoping exercise to produce a SAVI II report; and when the process will be completed. [7431/18]

Answer

Minister for Justice and Equality (Deputy Charles Flanagan): A scoping group has been established to consider the availability of data and make recommendations on a study to identify the prevalence of sexual abuse and violence in Ireland today, and emerging trends. The agreed terms of reference for the scoping group are available on my Department's website. They provide that the group will report to the Cabinet Committee on Social Policy within 3 months of the first meeting of the group. The group first met on 5 January and is scheduled to report by 5 April.
Work is progressing, following a workplan agreed by the group, with a view to reporting within the timescale envisaged in the terms of reference.
