Answer

Minister of State at the Department of Justice and Equality (Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin): As already announced, the Comprehensive Employment Strategy for People with Disabilities contains a commitment to establish an interdepartmental working group to deal with the question of 'making work pay' for people with disabilities through the examination of the complex interactions between the benefit system, the additional costs associated with work for people with disabilities and net income gains in employment. This interdepartmental group will operate under the aegis of the Department of Social Protection.
